Kuala Lumpur – December 13, 2017. SMART College and Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) announced today that they will jointly develop the MBA (Protection Management) Program. This collaboration is part of the initiative by the Ministry of Higher Education to encourage public universities to team up with specialist colleges to develop new modes of learning and teaching in higher education.
MBA is now regarded as essential for executive development, to provide rising stars with the business savvy they need to enter the hallowed halls of top-level leadership. However, UPNM Vice Chancellor, General Tan Sri Zulkifli mentioned that future CEOs cannot just only be technical specialists in finance and marketing. The MBA (Protection Management) program introduces operational capabilities and strategic protection management competencies within the MBA program to bridge the divide.
This 18-month MBA program will offer students the unique opportunity to participate in hands-on protection management laboratories at SMART College campus and learning opportunities at UPNM campus. Mr. Anand Pon, CEO of SMART College highlighted that the college will offer students the opportunity to access its interrogation lab, crime & forensic lab, occupational safety lab, moot court and command centre for an enhanced integrated learning experience.
Today’s global and digital landscape requires CEOs to employ proactive strategies to seize business opportunities, but they will be constantly challenged to addresses uncertainty and to act with integrity. To cater for this, Major Gen- Dato Mohd’ Yunus, Chairman of SMART College emphasized that MBA (Protection Management) graduates will now bring a new mindset to the workplace, not only in the form of entrepreneurial mindset but also with a solid foundation in corporate governance, enterprise risk management, corporate compliance, business continuity and crisis management.
Taking an MBA is likely to be one of the biggest investments of time and money that a student will ever make. The Economist’s ranking of MBA programs insist that they can help boost students’ career opportunities and open new areas of expertise and mobility. Indeed, this MBA (Protection Management) has being designed for students looking to join the government or the private sector in the Asia Pacific Region.
In addition, to the joint development of the MBA (Protection Management), UPNM will sign a franchise agreement on its Degree in Defence & Security with SMART College, as part of Memorandum of Agreement signing ceremony.
